Summary

Develop pupil’s foundational electronics skills in using flowcharts and components that culminates in assembling a functioning circuit board.

This unit allows students and teachers to simply and effectively utilise microcontrollers to perform fun and exciting tasks. The straightforward control of light and sound output leads logically on to more involved challenges including time delays and counting devices. By using the tried and tested education software, Circuit Wizard, simple flowchart-based operations allow detailed functionality and adaptability. This unit is designed as a starting point for understanding the concept of controlling programmable embedded electronics into design and technology products and prototypes. Circuit Wizard software and Genie circuit boards are required for this unit.

What's included in the toolkit?

Toolkit

The currently available units have been written to satisfy the new National Curriculum for Design and Technology. They are designed for teaching at KS3 but individual lessons in some units may also be appropriate for teaching Key Stages 2 or 4, particularly where Year 10 students may not previously have been exposed to certain topics.

  • PowerPoint slides for each lesson
  • Detailed lesson plans
  • Learning objectives and outcomes
  • Statement of which of the Government Guidelines are covered in the unit
  • Worksheets and activities
  • End-of-unit Assessment material
  • Other material and links to online resources

What people say...

The lesson plans and guides are really comprehensive and each section has an assessment.

I'll be pushing for some of your A-Level and KS3 resources this year, they are brilliant! This is just the sort of stuff teachers need.
