## Summary

The understanding of a variety of different functions is developed in this unit.  The first lesson explores mappings in general and the classification of the types of mapping.  Function notation is introduced and used and the impact of combining functions both by addition and composition is explored.  Inverse functions are defined, then students are supported in being able to find the inverse function and interpret the meaning of it. The next lesson focuses on expanding binomials, building from work in Unit 8, to expand three or more binomials and linking the coefficients to the terms in Pascal’s triangle.  Graphs of cubic and exponential functions are investigated; their key features and the sketching and plotting of them considered.  The link of exponential functions to growth and decay models is made and contextualised problems are solved.  To conclude the unit, key features of trigonometric graphs are investigated and used.

## What's included in the toolkit?

## What people say...

Lots of questions to gauge pupils understanding, great real life links with the slides, short pieces of info on each slide.

The PowerPoints were thorough and detailed and helped my knowledge of the subject as a non specialist.
