Summary

This free unit begins by looking at the ethical impacts of technology on wider society including those of cyber security, social media and computer-based implants. Students are encouraged to examine a range of case studies to understand the impact on themselves and others. The unit continues to look at the impact on the environment. This introduces the product lifecycle and the effect of our demand for rare component materials in mobile and wearable technologies. Lastly, the unit focuses on current legislation and privacy concerns through the use of contextual examples.
