Summary

This unit continues the geometry work from Unit 4 focusing on the transformation of shapes and the effect of these transformation.  With clear illustrations to enhance learning, this unit considers all four transformations of shapes, performing and describing each transformation.  The effect of each transformation on the properties of shapes are investigated and the impact of combined transformation explored.  Enlargements by positive, negative and fractional scale factor are considered and the link between enlargement and similarity explored.  This work is further developed into solving problems involving similarity and congruence.  The conditions for congruence of triangles are investigated and angle problems are solved using congruence conditions.
