Summary

This unit develops the fundamentals of the maths behind sequences, extending into more complex sequences.  With graphics which enhance learning and a focus on developing mastery, this unit provides an excellent platform to learn about this area of mathematics.  Starting with the concept of sequences, the unit considers linear sequences; recognising, describing and finding the nth term. Triangular number sequences, the Fibonacci sequence and other known sequences are explored whilst arithmetic and geometric sequences are identified and distinguished.  Quadratic sequences are explored, finding and dealing with the nth term.  The nth term is used to generate terms and to check if a term belongs to a sequence. The unit concludes by considering other characteristics of sequences such as convergence and termination.  Contextualised problems are used to enhance learning and facilitate the application of skills developed with sequences.
