The support triangle

Thursday, December 8, 2022

Communication between schools and parents needs to be as good as it can be in order to best support the students at the centre. Schools and teachers use materials from publishers and content providers almost daily and they should be well supported by those suppliers in order to get the most out of the resources and to deliver them most effectively. Putting parents and students in direct contact with the same providers completes this triangle and provides a significant additional layer of support and strengthens the network.

2013: PG Online was started by experienced teachers to support schools and teaching colleagues with high quality teaching resources. These include lesson presentations, worksheets, homework sheets and assessments, each with mark schemes. We put, and still do, over 50 hours into each lesson to make it just right – far more time than the average teacher could afford to spend on a fortnight of lessons.

2018: We asked an independent team of statistics experts in Exeter to analyse the data from thousands of schools and over 60,000 sets of GCSE results. They found that where schools had been using our materials, 12% of pupils achieved higher GCSE grades. See our report on the impact on grades here.

2020: Having developed a formula for improving grades for students through our support for teachers and schools, we have now completed the third side of the triangle by providing support to parents and students directly through the ClearRevise series.

The ClearRevise series distils each examination point into a beautifully illustrated single or double page spread. The use of imagery and icons improves memory by combining textual and visual elements.

2022: As a natural extension of our support to parents and students, we have now integrated augmented reality into these guides which improves motivation, engagement and understanding through a magical layer of 3D models, video and links to web content.

We are confident that we will be able to further improve results through working together with schools to support pupils and through our direct support to parents and their sons or daughters.
