Lesson 3 Enemies and collision detection
Lesson 4 Firing projectiles
Lesson 5 Capturing the flag
Lesson 6 Testing and assessment
There are 8 tutorials, 2 worksheets, 2 homework tasks and several demonstration games in this unit.
Please note: This unit is developed for GameMaker Studio v1.x available from GameMaker here. Please check your version before ordering. We are unable to support GameMaker Studio v2.
In this unit pupils will be introduced to the GameMaker Game Editor programming environment and begin by reverse-engineering an existing game. They will then progress to planning and developing their own games, learning to incorporate variables, events and actions, and making use of object-orientated programming techniques. They will program player movement, enemy collisions and the collection of objects to win their games. Finally they will learn to test and debug their programs. Assessment will be by means of an Assessment Portfolio.

The currently available units have been written to satisfy the new National Curriculum for Computing, they are designed for teaching at KS3 but individual lessons in some units may also be appropriate for teaching Key Stages 2 or 4, particularly where Year 10 students may not previously have been exposed to certain topics.
We’re really pleased with the Python and GameMaker units especially. Thank you for making such great resources.

The GameMaker unit from PG Online that I have just received is full of everything I need to teach from KS3 all the way to KS5 and my colleagues too. There are many gems within the resources provided but what is particularly useful is that all tutorials, challenges and extension tasks have been "worked" and are therefore available for analysis, reverse engineering and just to show what the end result "could/should" be. I am really looking forward to using it next year. Thank you.
