Mathematics Mastery

Summary

This unit focuses on developing an understanding of properties and an application of number.  Index numbers are considered in the first lesson, ensuring students have a firm grasp of the use, evaluation and manipulation of index numbers.  The unit then moves on to develop skills in finding percentage change and reverse percentages including solving contextualised problems.  This learning is extended into aspects of financial maths including calculating interest, profit and loss and tax. Compound interest is tackled in the next lesson, using a multiplier to solve problems and reasoning tasks to deepen understanding and encourage mastery.  Learning about standard form revisits the earlier work on index numbers and deals with both calculator and non-calculator techniques for this work.  The unit closes by considering growth and decay problems in context, setting up and solving problems, and interpreting the solutions.

We have been using your resources for years – they are fab! The GCSE Clear Revise book is really useful so I am excited to see the new A Level edition.
