NEW for the 2025 AAQ specification.

This pack of resources covers the specification points for B1 (relational database design) and the first half of B2 (design documentation). Five topics are included along with an end-of-unit assessment. Example database structures and contexts allow students to clearly understand how the design specification is applied. The first two topics focus on relational database design techniques and processes. Students will have already met many of the concepts, so these lessons give additional opportunity for review. Topic 3 looks at the design specification overall and specifically the requirements of the brief, audience, purpose, client requirements and legal and ethical considerations. Topic 4 shows students how to use data dictionaries and entity relationship diagrams. In the last topic, students will look at how to design forms and menus along with the components that are used within database forms. After the final topic there is an opportunity for students to sit an assessment test which helps to review the material covered before they undertake the project brief.
